Stainless steel, which is also known as inox, is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content. Even though stainless steel won't corrode as the ordinary steel does, it is not fully stain-proof. Stains can appear in the areas low in oxygen, as well as in high-salinityand poor air-circulation areas. There are different levels of stainless steel finish which are in accordance with the environment the steel has to endure.
The difference between stainless and carbon steel is in the amount of chromium. Unprotected carbon steel easily rusts when exposed to air and humidity. The film of iron oxide (rust) is active and it accelerates corrosion by creating more iron oxide. As a result of the bigger amount of iron oxide, it can be peeled off or fall away. Stainless steel contains enough chromium to form chromium oxide, a passive film which prevents further corrosion by blocking oxygen diffusion on the surface of the steel, which blocks oxygen from spreading into the internal structure of the metal. Due to similar sizes of steel and oxide ions, chromium oxide remains firmly attached to the surface. Passivity occurs only if the amount of chromium is sufficient in relation to the presence of oxygen.
Stainless steel products can be polished, sanded, burnished, brushed or matte. In order to protect the products from aggressive environment, they are burnished, that is matte, and sanded. The result is a matte surface resistant to unsuitable environment such as water, salt etc., which makes it adequate for areas with higher level of humidity such as pools, seaside and so on.
Benefits of stainless steel
- Quality and liability
- Stainless steel
- Easy maintenance
- Modern design
- Good price-quality ratio
Stainless steel is resistant to corrosion. Fences and other products made of stainless steel do not require any particular protection in order to be maintained. However, if you would like to maintain the polished finish and flawless appearance of an inox fence or any other product, certain maintenance methods are necessary.
It suffices to clean stainless steel with a sponge, warm water, dishwashing detergent and a soft cloth mop. Even the rain is enough to keep the fence clean from surface dust and stains when it is outdoors. Also, glass cleaners are effective when it comes to cleaning stainless steel.
Stainless steel should not be scraped with metal objects, and it should not be cleaned with detergents containing hydrochrolic acid, bleach nor with silver polish.
Stainless steel fences
Stainless steel fences are renowned for their modern and elegant design. Due to their polished surface and the variety of possible combinations, stainless steel fences are a perfect solution for interior and exterior design.
Stainless steel fences can be produced in different shapes in accordance with the client's requests. Precisely this wide range of possibilities is what makes them unique.
Stainless steel maintenance is quite simple. After the assembly we immediately provide the service of cleaning since the fence might have been stained during the assembly. Due to its chemical composition, stainless steel fences are corrosion-resistant. Damaging the metal surface leads to the accumulation of oxygen whichrestoresthe damaged surface and protects from further corrosion.
Since stainless steel is proved to be very resistant and excellent at withstanding different weather conditions, we often install them outdoors. We mostly install fences made of stainless steel and glass, wire or other material indoors. Materials such as glass, wire or wood are maintained differently and are not resistant to certain conditions outdoors. Aside from maintenance, this combination of materials does look more elegant which makes it more adequate for indoor fences.
The price of stainless steel fences varies depending on the material, that is combinations of material, used in production. Due to theirdurability and unaltered appearance, stainless steel fences are a perfect choice for home decor. We always tend to give our clients the most favourable offers.
